On Thursday night, the Seattle Seahawks continued to dominate their rivalry with the San Francisco 49ers. It was the fourth time in a row that the Seahawks have defeated the 49ers winning last nigh,t 20-3
The Seattle Seahawks got a huge win on Thursday night over the San Francisco 49ers, 20-3. It was a game that the Seattle Seahawks (3-4) needed to win to try and get their disastrous season back on the rails. The San Francisco 49ers (2-5), meanwhile don’t look like they will be contending for a long time to come.
The game, according to USA Today, was a one sided Seattle affair from the very start. Both starting quarterbacks have struggled this season in efforts to right their ships. Colin Kapernick of the 49ers only threw 24 passes and only gained 124 yards on 13 completions. He was, also, sacked six times by the Seahawks defense. It was the fourth loss in a row for San Francisco in their last four games against Seattle.
Kapernick just couldn’t seem to find his balance as throws went wide everywhere. The 49ers were so inept with their offense on Thursday night that they had nine punts to only eight first downs all night. The 49ers have been outscored in their last three meetings with the Seahawks, 53-13. San Francisco only had a total of 55 yards in the entire first half of the game. The 49ers ended the game with just a total of 142 yards for the game.
Russell Wilson of the Seahawks threw for 235 yards and managed to avoid a fourth quarter disaster that seems to be the rule of thumb for them this season. Despite that, Wilson still threw two interceptions and was sacked five times himself. Wilson now leads the league in being sacked having now been sacked a total of 31 times.
The Seahawks have now won their last six of seven meetings with the once mighty San Francisco 49ers. For an idea at how inept Seattle’s offense has been this season, the Seahawks needed six plays from the 49ers three yard line to push the ball over for a touchdown and their running back had to leap in at that.
